History

The new Porsche was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in October 1974, and sales began in the spring of 1975. This was the first Porsche with the "Turbo" index, although the first cars exported to the United States were designated as "Turbo Carrera".

The 930 proved to be very fast, but also an extremely demanding car — due to the rear engine layout, the short wheelbase combined with the turbo engine, the car had a tendency to oversteer and required a more experienced driver. When driving at high speed, it was necessary to maintain high engine speeds.
In 1978, the 930 underwent a major upgrade. The engine capacity increased to 3.3 liters with the addition of an air-to-air intercooler, which increased power to 300 hp. The rear spoiler moved slightly higher to make room for the intercooler. Brakes from the racing Porsche 917 were also installed.
