1975 BMW Alexander Calder Art Car 50 Anniversary
Лимитированная серия 1000 шт.
HistoryThe BMW 3.0 CSL with which Alexander Calder laid the foundation stone for the Art Car Collection in 1975. As a sculptor who usually invented his own forms, Calder was able to free himself from the formal structure of racing cars and, when painting them, sought to give them his own distinctive mark. As with his sculptures, he used intense colors and gracefully sweeping surfaces, which he generously distributed over the wings, hood and roof.
In 1975, this art car took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Sam Posey, as well as Jean Guichet and Hervé Poulain. It was the first and last time the car was used in racing. After seven hours, the car was forced to give up due to a faulty driveshaft. Since then, the car has been on display as a museum piece.
