In 1950, Porsche returned to its historical homeland - in Zuffenhausen, the northern outskirts of Stuttgart. There, Ferry Porsche temporarily rented a room from the atelier Reutter, signing a contract with him for the manufacture of bodies for the Porsche 356.
The company's business went uphill, and 298 cars were sold by the end of the year. Their body was no longer made of aluminum, but of steel, while the cost of the coupe dropped to $ 2030.
Ferry Porsche contacted a well-known American dealer of European sports cars, Max Hoffman, and he agreed to exhibit a small batch of Porsche 356 in his salons. As a result, during the year the company was able to sell 1,103 cars, earning $ 3 million.
